Dan Walker describes gospel as 'life changing truth' as he shares favourite carol
News and sports broadcaster Dan Walker has described the words of his favourite carol as "life changing". In a video on the Church of England's official X account, Walker described how its lyrics remind him of how Jesus' identity as "the Son of God" changes everything.
"If I had to pick one, I'd probably go, Oh, holy night, but I'm gonna go for a classic, Once in Royal David's City - I think it's either the second or the third verse.
"It starts with 'He came down to earth from heaven, who is God and Lord of all. That's a decent slice of theology, isn't it?" The arrival of the Saviour?
"Because you know if that's true, if Jesus is the Son of God, who He claimed to be, then that is life changing, life affirming truth, and that for me is at the very heart of what the Christmas message is all about. So, yeah, singing loud, sing it proud."
In a previous interview with Sorted magazine, Walker described his faith as "the most important thing about me", saying he could not "imagine life without Jesus.”
The current Channel 5 News anchor and former face of BBC Breakfast and Football Focus, returns to football coverage over December, working on Amazon Prime's Premier League live action.
