Efforts are on to project Christians as enemy
Archdiocese Mar Tony Neelankavil on Monday alleged that concerted efforts are under way to project the Christian community as a `common enemy of the society’ with a design to make electoral gains by treating others as vote banks.
Inaugurating the collectorate march organised by the faithful against the controversial play ' Kakkukali ' here, the auxiliary bishop said: "if anyone has such plans, I want to make it clear that these are only illusions."
"There is a wrong notion that deriding and mocking the Christian belief systems and practices like confession, and sacraments are progressive actions.”
“Some elements with myopic visions are upholding these actions for advancing their selfish interests. They must remember that the attire that the nuns are wearing is a symbol of the faith they are upholding. Blurting out whatever comes to one’s mind cannot be justified in the name of freedom of expression. None should think that we can be scared by some play or other such programs,’’ he said.
