The Karnataka government has taken action against an official who submitted a report stating that there was no forced conversion in Karnataka. According to the report, action was taken against Hosadurga taluk tehsildar Thippeswamy in Chitradurga district. According to the report, the official's honesty has angered the government at a time when there are frequent incidents of persecution of minorities, especially the Christian community, in the name of conversion aimed at a majority vote.
Chitradurga is the district in Karnataka where the BJP government has been accused of forcible conversion. The BJP leaders alleged that the two villages in Hosadurga taluk of the district had the highest number of converts. Following this, the government commissioned tehsildars to enumerate the number of converts in these villages. He and his team conducted the survey from house to house. But the tehsildar reported that there was no forced conversion anywhere.
Thippeswamy revealed that people in both the villages had told him that they were participating in the worship services in the temples voluntarily and that no one was forcing them to do so. But after the report was submitted, the tehsildar removed him from his post without giving any reason. He asserted that his confession had been obtained through torture and that his confession had been obtained through torture.
Meanwhile, BJP state spokesperson Prakash dismissed the survey report. He said the party was adamant that the Christian community was forcibly converting.
