Jarkiholi inaugrates convention of Christian community
The Christian community organised a district-level convention at Simonds Hall in Belagavi, on Sunday. The public works department and district in-charge minister Satish Jarkiholi inaugurated the event.Speaking on the occasion Jarakiholi, said that, in the assembly elections, all the communities including Christians, Muslims, SCs and STs supported in large numbers, so it was possible to win 136 seats and form the government led by Siddaramaiah.
"The members of the Christian community have great love and respect for the Congress, " he appreciated. The minister suggested to the community to give good education for children, so they can utilise the opportunities and build their lives in today's competitive era. “Mother Teresa shared love and affection with the world. She devoted herself to the service of the poor, sick, orphans, and those in distress for about 45 years. Her contribution to education is immense. In the same way, no matter what religion or caste we are born in, our priority is to live as a human being first,” he said.There has been a discussion that one MLC seat should be given to the Christian community. The Christian community will be given political status at the district level in the next few days, he said. Recalling the land issue and legal battle of Christian Society, where Simmonds Hall is situated, Jarkiholi said that it is possible to get the land only if society is united. “The legal battle is currently going on and I will always respond to the society’s problem,” he assured. MLA Asif (Raju) Sait said that much progress has been made by the Christian community in the field of education. “The community is taking the entire society with them. It is appreciable,” he said.
